The global market for V2X communications and cooperative transportation systems will be the subject of a free webcast on September 2 by Frost & Sullivan’s Automotive & Transportation Group. The event will feature an analyst briefing on the possible mandates expected on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) systems in the U.S., an overview of the risks and challenges associated with their deployment, and an in depth analysis of market trends in Europe and Asia.

According to the market research firm, the U.S., Japan, and several EU countries are currently developing multi-modal surface transportation systems characterized by connected transportation environments that integrate vehicles, the infrastructure, and portable devices.

“Cooperative systems are the next big wave in intelligent transport systems (ITS), which are gaining momentum in Europe as well as in the U.S. and Japan,” says Aswin Kumar P., Senior Research Analyst with Frost & Sullivan’s Automotive & Transportation Group. These systems will “serve the public good by leveraging technology in order to maximize driver safety and mobility while improving environmental performance and focusing more on deployment.”

“As countries worldwide brace themselves for ever increasing traffic density, cooperative systems promise to deliver close to accident-free, efficient and clean road systems,” Kumar P continues. “However, a number of challenges, like complex business model issues and cooperation among different stakeholders must be addressed before the market can reach its full potential.”

The webcast will take place September 2, 2010 at 11:00am U.S. Eastern Time.

The event is aimed at vehicle manufacturers, silicon vendors, ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suppliers, navigation device suppliers, telecommunication companies, road authorities and operators, governmental agencies, and service providers, according to the market research firm.
