A free webinar hosted by market analyst firm ABI Research will explore various aspects of the rapidly emerging smartphone market. The August 5 event will cover topics such as how fast smartphones are gaining ground; where they’ve been most successful, and why; and how much impact Android and other Linux-based software platforms are having.

“The first half of 2010 is behind us,” notes ABI. “It has been an eventful period in the mobile phone market, marked by innovation, shifting fortunes, disruptive products, high-profile public relations uproars, and the rise of new platforms and technologies.”

The event, entitled “The Smartphone Market, A Mid-Year Progress Report,” will take place as follows:

  • Date: Thursday, August 5, 2010
  • Time: 11:00 AM U.S. Eastern Daylight Time
  • Cost: free

Key questions to be answered during the online event, according to ABI, include:

  • How fast are smartphones penetrating the general mobile phone market?
  • Where are they most successful, and why?
  • What have been the most important market developments of the last half-year?
  • What is and what will be the impact of Linux-based operating systems on the smartphone market?

The event will be hosted by Ken Burden, director of ABI’s Mobile Devices Practice, along with two of the firm’s senior analysts for mobile devices, Michael Morgan and Victoria Fodale.

Registration for the free event is available here.

“This instructive session will explore the opportunities and challenges facing marketers who are new to mobile. If your marketing efforts could use some ‘mobilizing,’ then this webinar is for you,” suggests ABI.
