Mercedes-Benz Japan begins Smart EV road tests

Mercedes-Benz Japan has begun testing the electric version of its compact Smart car on Japanese roads, according to several sources.

The two-seater Smart Fortwo Electric Drive reportedly was developed by Daimler, utilizes a lithium-ion battery developed by Tesla Motors, and can achieve a top speed of around 60mph.
