An industry tradeshow focused on multicore microprocessors and related technologies will take place April 1-3 in Santa Clara, Calif. The Multicore Expo will feature keynote talks, panel discussions, in-depth technical sessions, case studies, and a vendor expo.

Although the event’s detailed agenda has not been published yet, it is expected to cover such topics as:

  • Multicore programming and optimizations
  • High performance computing
  • Multicore interconnect technology
  • Industry specific trends in multicore
  • Application-specific implementations (automotive, consumer, networking, storage, wireless, etc.)
  • Multicore architectures and devices
  • RTOSes that support heterogeneous and/or homogeneous multiprocessing
  • Software APIs for interprocess/thread communications
  • Hardware and software debug facilities
  • Simulation, modeling, and hardware/software co-design
  • Application partitioning and load balancing
  • Parallel processing languages
  • Multicore system-on-chip development

“As multicore implementations proliferate, the challenges associated with programming, debug, and optimization are making Multicore Expo more important than ever as a forum in which the key issues of the multicore ecosystem can be raised, debated, and solved,” said Markus Levy, who is chairman of the Multicore Expo and president of the Multicore Association.

Corporate sponsors of this third annual Multicore Expo include:

  • Platinum — Intel
  • Gold — Freescale, Green Hills Software, IMEC, RapidMind, Sun Microsystems, Texas Instruments, Wind River, Zeligsoft
  • Silver — sponsors include ARM, Sonics, Target Compiler Technologies, Tensilica, Virtutech
