The second annual IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference today launched its conference website and issued a call for papers. Scheduled for Dec. 13-15, 2010 in New Jersey, IEEE VNC 2010 will cover a wide range of networking topics, including V2V, V2I, and VANET communications, as well as the overall impact of connected vehicles on transportation efficiency and safety.

The conference aims to collect “researchers, professionals, and practitioners to present and discuss recent developments and challenges in vehicular networking technologies, and their applications.”

According to event organizers, desired topics for paper submissions include:

  • Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications
  • Vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications
  • Vehicle-to-X communications
  • Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET)
  • In-vehicle communications
  • Potential applications of vehicular networks including ITS
  • Protocols for vehicular networks (MAC, routing, mobility management, etc.)
  • Information networking over vehicular networks
  • Architecture, algorithms and protocols for data dissemination in vehicular networks
  • Network and QoS management for vehicular networks
  • Security and privacy in vehicular networks
  • Physical layer and antenna technologies for vehicular networks
  • RF propagation models for vehicular networks
  • Radio resource management for vehicular networks
  • Simulation / performance evaluation techniques for vehicular networks
  • Experimental systems and testbeds for vehicular networks
  • Assessment of impact of vehicular networks on transportation efficiency and safety
  • Standardization and economical model updates for vehicular networks

Paper submissions are due by Sept. 3, 2010 and will be subject to peer review, the group says.

IEEE VNC 2010 is the second annual IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference. Last year’s inaugural event resulted from the merging of IEEE V2VCOM and IEEE AutoNet Workshops under IEEE ITS Society and IEEE ComSoc. The detailed agenda from last year’s event is located here. The agenda for this year’s event does not appear to be posted on the VNC 2010 website as of this writing, but should be forthcoming soon.

For further information on this year’s conference, including details on how to submit a paper to the event, visit the IEEE VNC 2010 website.
