Using cellphones as personal safety devices

My Mobile Witness Inc. has unveiled a free service that lets you use your cellphone to protect yourself from danger. When faced with a potential threat, you snap a photo of the person, place, or situation of concern, send it via MMS or SMS to the company’s “digital vault,” and — if necessary — reveal the existence of the archived evidence.

Best geek bling: 3G watch/phone

LG Electronics will unveil the “world’s first market-ready” 3G watch phone at CES in Las Vegas this week. The LG-GD910, featuring built-in 3G video telephony service along with quadband GSM, is an upgrade of a prototype showcased last year.

Apple’s next hot product: the iLoo
