Roku has just refreshed its popular family of streaming media players, adding a model with an enhanced remote control for playing “casual games,” and slashing the devices’ typical power consumption to less than 2 watts.
The much anticipated Boxee iPad app is “almost ready” and may show up in the Apple App Store by the end of this month, say Boxee sources.
D-Link has begun selling the Boxee Box’s two-sided remote control as an unbundled product for users of Boxee on PCs and Macs. It’s the exact same remote that ships with the Boxee Box.
Cloud Engines, maker of the nifty Pogoplug device, has just introduced a software-only version of its cloud-based filesharing and multimedia streaming service. The free app builds Pogoplug functionality into Windows PCs and Macs, letting users share their desktop systems’ multimedia libraries and other files over the Internet, and with a modestly-priced upgrade adds A/V-streaming and transcoding capabilities.
