Get ready for Rovio, a small three-wheeled mobile robot that offers audio/visual telepresence via its built-in wireless web-cam. An onboard webserver enables access from anywhere in the world, according to WowWee, which plans to ship the product soon.

A team of computer science graduate students at Stanford University has demonstrated autonomous robotic helicopters that teach themselves difficult flying maneuvers. They do it by “watching” how an expertly piloted remote-control helicopter flies, and then performing the stunts by themselves.
Argo Medical Technologies has developed a “quasi-robotic” suit aimed at letting long-term wheelchair users walk independently. “ReWalk” appears to borrow sensor, motor, and real-time computing technologies from humanoid robot research.
Intel CTO Justin Rattner speculated on where technology might take us by the middle of the 21st century, in his keynote an Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco today. Rattner showcased several areas of Intel’s advanced research, including wireless power transfer, shape-shifting matter, and technologies to make robots more personal.
