Private firm plots robotic lunar expeditions

Astrobotic Technology has unveiled plans for a series of robotic expeditions to the Moon. The lunar rovers are intended to explore high-interest areas of the Moon’s surface and beam the data back to the Earth.

Toyota and the University of Tokyo have jointly developed a humanoid robot aimed at household chores. In a demonstration earlier this month, the robot was shown cleaning up a room, clearing dishes from a dining table, and loading shirts into a washing machine, the Japan Times reports.
Videos of Spykee, a new WiFi-enabled spy robot powered by open source software, have begun to surface on the web. The easily constructed robot reportedly can move, watch, speak, hear, send emails, and be controlled over the Internet.

Stanford University has launched a series of 10 free, online computer science (CS) and electrical engineering courses. The courses span an introduction to computer science and an introduction to artificial intelligence and robotics, among other topics.
