Boxee adds Netflix movie downloads

Boxee announced today that it is adding Netflix video downloads — including the ability to browse Netflix’s media library from within Boxee — to its A/V media center platform for Linux, Mac, and (soon) Windows PCs.

Intrepid Ibex lays claim to the Black Tower

It finally happened: Ubuntu 8.10 (aka “Intrepid Ibex”) has uprooted Kubuntu 8.04 from the Black Tower. Although I’ve been a staunch KDE advocate for many years, this exceptional new distribution — based on Linux 2.6.27, GNOME 2.24, and X.Org 7.4 — has unexpectedly converted me into a GNOME user.

Ubuntu 8.10 tempts KDE lover to switch

The Ubuntu Linux project has just released a major update to its highly popular Linux OS. Ubuntu Version 8.10 boasts a 2.6.27 Linux kernel, GNOME 2.24 desktop environment, and X.Org 7.4. Although I’ve been a staunch KDE advocate over the years, this slick new release is strongly tempting me to convert to Ubuntu!

Obama overwhelms McCain on the Web

A baseline comparison of the Web presence of the Barack Obama and John McCain presidential campaigns can be seen in a simple Google search for each candidate’s name. A much more interesting picture emerges from Alexa’s traffic ranking charts for the two candidates websites.
