Presentation slides and a summary video from a recent transportation-focused Climate Change Symposium are now available online for public access. Cosponsored by U.S. federal and state transportation agencies, the symposium’s objective was to help state transportation departments address the challenges posed by global warming.

Saab will unveil a preproduction version of its first electric vehicle at the Paris Motor Show later this month. The Saab 9-3 ePower is the prototype of a test fleet of 70 vehicles, which will undergo extensive field trials in Sweden next year.
This article introduces GM’s Electric Networked-Vehicle (EN-V) concept vehicle, which integrates a broad range of ITS (intelligent transportation system) and cooperative mobility principles and technologies. According to GM, the zero-emission vehicle was designed to address six key mobility concerns facing residents of big cities: energy, environment, safety, congestion, parking, and affordability.
The first specifications for bi-level coach, dining, baggage, and business class rail cars to be constructed under the U.S. government’s High-Speed and Intercity Passenger Rail program were approved August 31 by the executive board of the Next Generation Equipment Committee, The approved specifications apply to bi-level passenger rail cars capable of speeds up to 125 mph.
