Video: Hurricane Irene moving up the East Coast

This fascinating video shows Hurricane Irene moving through the Bahamas and making landfall at Cape Lookout, North Carolina at around 8 am EDT today.

The silent, 12-second animation below consists of GOES-13 Satellite imagery at 15-minute intervals.

And here’s another video, taken by astronauts abourd the International Space Station. This one shows Irene crossing the Bahamas on August 25, at which time the massive storm was still classified as a category 3 hurricane.
